This, Dojo-Kun, consisting of five disciplines, is repeated in a chorus at the end of each training session.
It is necessary to consider that the content is teaching moral education.
It must be understood how significant Karate’s existence is in the current age that has seen great development in material civilisation, where the training of some very important mental aspects has been neglected. |
SHOTO NIJU KUN:
Master Funakoshi’s 20 rules.
- Karate begins & ends with a bow of respect.
- Never attack first.
- Karate gives you a sense of justice.
- Know yourself first, then others.
- Mental strength is more important than physical strength.
- Concentrate - always.
- Idleness invites disaster.
- The Dojo is not the only place for practice.
- Karate requires life long practice.
- Karate is like hot water, it cools when not maintained.
- Looking at ordinary things through Karate eyes make them more interesting.
- Don’t focus on winning. Be determined not to loose.
- A strategy decides winning or loosing.
- Move yourself according to your opponent’s movements.
- Consider your hands and feet as weapons.
- Everyone can encounter an opponent at any time.
- Always try to think and devise.
- Basic training is required for beginners, after that more natural training.
- Perform Kata precisely, Kumite training is different
- Never forget - Strength & weakness of Power. - Expansion & contraction of body. - Fast & slow techniques.
