Kata Assessment Criteria:


The following is a guide for Kata Assessment during competition.
If you practice your Kata, whilst remaining conscious of these aspects, it will assist in achieving a better standard during Kata performances.

POSTURE
Attitude, Spirit and Eye Position

BALANCE

STANCE
Width and Length

4

STANCE
Adherence to the Floor of the Feet

STANCE
Hip Position
Front, 45 degrees, or 90 degrees

STANCE
Hip Rotation
Mainly on “multiple” moves. Eg. Block-punch

USE OF BODY
Strong-Weak, Fast-Slow, Contraction-Expansion

KIME
Concentration of Power
Starting point – finish point of each move - Appropriate use of intent.

TARGET
Accurate Target Areas
Relative to appendages.

DIRECTION
Accurate Direction of Technique
Direction of travel is relative to moving up, or down, as well as geographical direction.
