We aim to share, and spread the practice of Traditional Japanese Karate,
inclusive of the discipline, values and traditions, as it were originally intended.



 

 


Welcome

Honbu Dojo - South Australia is a not-for-profit karate organisation, with branches throughout South Australia. We practice traditional Shotokan Karate, according to the JKA Principles. We are an incorporated, volunteer based organisation, and welcome adults and children who wish to join us.

Honbu Dojo - South Australia is affiliated to the Japan Karate Association World Federation (JKA), the most prestigious karate association in the world.

Statement:

Honbu Dojo – South Australia, and its senior members, have a thirty year history with the Japan Karate Association (JKA).

We are very proud of this history.

Unanimously, our senior members and Instructors, wish to express our disappointment in the recent behaviour displayed by representatives of the private company that is ‘JKA Australia Pty Ltd’.

This behaviour is not consistent with our core values.

In the interest of preserving our relationship with the Japan Karate Association, we wish to distance our group from this behaviour .

In doing so, we wish to make it known, that we have applied to JKA Headquarters, in Japan, to continue our membership with the Japan Karate Association, separate from JKA Australia Pty Ltd.

We will not be renewing our memberships with JKAA Pty Ltd.

JKA members, from within Australia, that wish to seek further information regarding our decision, are encouraged to contact our office as a matter of priority:
