Japan Australia Friendship Association (JAFA)

A glorious autumn day welcomed members of JKA Honbu Dojo to the Kodomo No Hi – Japanese Children’s Festival. Held annually at the Cowandilla Primary School, the day is set aside as a day of respect for children and to celebrate their happiness. The festival features Japanese dancers, drummers, food and art as well as many activities for the public to experience the culture. The event provides an excellent opportunity for JKA to demonstrate our martial art and promote our local dojos. Sensei Dion took the group through a short session of basic kihon, kumite and kata in front of many interested onlookers. After training we tucked into some authentic Japanese food and enjoyed the entertainment.
